Crowd Journal was born out the belief that Journalism is meant to give people a true sense of their world, so that they can participate and have a voice in how their world is structured. Unfortunately, most of the journalism practiced today falls short of this ideal, where newsrooms focus on coverage of mainstream issues, whilst shunning out stories from underrepresented voices who don’t fit their agenda. And to address this challenge, we designed Crowd Journal, a Social News Crowdsourcing platform that where underrepresented voices can journal their respective experiences and account of events. This way, we get to have an inclusive, diverse true sense of our world and have a voice in how it is structured.
